Support for your dog – expert help with dog behaviour problems
Helping dogs and their people live well together is what we do
If you’re here, there’s something about life with your dog that you’d like to change.
That might be a particular behaviour that’s difficult to live with, training that isn’t working as you expected, concerns about how health may be affecting your dog’s happiness, or a growing sense that something just isn’t quite right – even if you can’t yet put your finger on it.
Whether life with your dog feels really stressful right now, or you simply want to be sure you’re doing the very best to help your dog flourish, we’ll help you understand what’s going on and support you to make sensible next steps, in a way that feels clear and manageable – for you and for your dog.
We’re here so you can get on with enjoying life together.
Your dog is an individual. The most successful support is based on this.
Behaviour doesn’t fall into neat categories or labels.
How a dog behaves is shaped by how they feel in their body, how safe and settled they feel emotionally, their learning history, and what life is asking of them day to day. Every dog is an individual, and their behaviour reflects that.
Lasting change comes from understanding the why, not just responding to the visible behaviour.
Sometimes the things that make the biggest – and often easiest – difference can feel quite removed from the behaviour you’re finding difficult. And for many of our clients, realising this is a huge relief – it opens up more helpful options than just trying harder or doing more training.
At Canine Thinking we don’t separate behaviour from wellbeing. We look at the whole dog, in the context of real life – because that’s where change actually happens.
Our role is to help you identify what’s really going on, so you can choose the next steps that will help you both move forwards with confidence.
A clear place to start
People come to us at very different points in their journey with their dog.
Some want to understand what’s going on before deciding what to do next. Others already know they need support and want help choosing the option that best fits their dog and their circumstances.
These pages will help you find your starting point.

Understand your dog
Make sense of what you’re seeing. Learn why behaviour happens, how health and emotional wellbeing play a role, and why training alone isn’t always the answer. We break the big picture down, step-by-step.

FAQs
What if i'm not sure which option is right for us?
Many people start in one place and move to another as things become clearer. We’ll help you adjust as needed, and you’re never locked into a single route. And honestly, getting started somewhere – even gently – can make a real difference for your dog.
Do I need one-to-one support straight away?
Not always. Some people start with some self-guided learning through a short course, or join our Feel Well Behave Well membership, to start making sense of what’s going on with their dog. Others benefit from more direct guidance from the outset. The right starting point depends on your dog, your situation and how much support you want right now.
But I think I just need some help with training
Training can be part of the picture, but it’s rarely the whole story. Our approach looks at behaviour (and that’s everything you see your dog do – including typical training things like walking on the lead) in the context of health, emotional wellbeing and real life, so support focuses on what will genuinely help your dog.
And if training is the main piece, addressing those foundations makes the training itself faster and more effective.
