The Canine Thinking team says…

See our quick guide in the images and there is a Kong size guide too.

The original distinctive red Kong! This is for average chewers but you do need to choose the right size and if in doubt we usually suggest you go up a size rather than down. Ideally you want your dog to be able to get their mouth round the Kong to give it a squeeze. Chewing is a lovely relaxation and de-stress enrichment activity.

Don’t forget, if you have a power chewer you need a black Kong not a red one, puppies are better with the softer puppy Kongs and for older dogs there is a purple Kong Senior which is a little more flexible.
Stuff with something sticky – wet food, soaked dry food or treats, treats mushed with a bit of mashed veg or mince. Be creative. Go easy on peanut butter though.

And keep an eye that your dog doesn’t find this frustrating – for some dogs Kongs are simply too hard. Look instead at some of the licking options, or a Kong Dental Squeezz Stick or a Licky Chewy Ball where the treats are a bit more accessible!
