Understanding behaviour and wellbeing . The foundations to harmony.

Our passion is helping you and your dogs live your happiest life together.

It’s why we do what we do.

Our passion is helping you and your dogs live your happiest life together. It’s why we do what we do.

Think of life with your dog like building a house.

Design what you want (you and your dog both get a say in how life together will look). Put in the foundations (the better they are, the better the house) and then you get to enjoy life in a space that you love, knowing it’s built to last.

This is what our House of Harmony model is all about!

It’s a simple way of breaking down the steps:

  • For you to enjoy life with your dog
  • For your dog to enjoy life with you
  • For everyone (including your dog) to be safe

And that’s it! It looks different for everyone, because every canine family is unique. It’s straightforward and it is really successful – we use it with our own dogs too!

It is a joy to share your life with a happy, healthy, well-adjusted dog who enjoys hanging out with you, and whose behaviours give you the confidence to do all the activities you love together.

Why we are different to your average dog training solution

The problem with most dog training solutions is that they aim to fix the problem at hand in a way that makes sense to  the human end of the lead wtithout always considering WHY the dog is doing that thing in the first place. If a dog pulls on lead, training is put in place to try to teach a dog to walk nicely….

“Well, what’s wrong with that?” We hear you say.

If the reason underpinning the behaviour (what you see your dog do, the pulling on lead in this case) isn’t addressed then

  • training will be much harder and take longer than it needs (if you get there at all) – addressing the underlying cause makes training quicker and easier!
  • if you do get improvements (let’s say pulling on lead reduces), that may be better for you but your dog may be less happy because the reason why they were pulling hasn’t actually been addressed. No-one wants their dog to feel less happy.
  • and you are likely to get other issues appear at other times from whatever it is that wasn’t sorted!

So we always think about the ‘why’, help you understand the bigger picture and see life through your dog’s lens. The House of Harmony model makes this easy and it means you not only sort the issue out, you get to do this more quickly and easily, knowing it’s right for the long-term and that you have really taken the best care of your dog at the same time.

So whether you have a tiny puppy first venturing out into the big, wide world, or a an adult dog needing to adapt to the changing circumstances that life presents (both yours and theirs), we provide you with expert guidance to achieve this positively, without force or fear, and using your dogs’ natural behaviours and motivations so that their needs are met and they feel enthused to offer you the behaviours that you want, even before you ask!

We help you build a fantastic partnership, through a learning journey you will both enjoy.

The key link between wellbeing and behaviour

Living a happy life with your dog actually has very little to do with training and a huge amount to do with understanding what makes your dog tick, meeting those needs and building the right skills. Physical and emotional wellbeing is the cornerstone of this and is the essential foundation layer of our House of Harmony.

This is one of the most important things you can ever learn for your dog.

There is so much science that confirms the critical relationship between health and behaviour. Think of it as meeting your dog’s essential needs, truly understanding your dog’s mood state and staying on top of your dog’s general health.

It really is pretty straightforward – if your dog feels well, they will behave well.
